Two Thirds Sky
The Company

Two Thirds Sky was founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Lisa Spackman, with a particular focus on the relationship between heritage, environment and performance making. This has lead to projects made for outdoor spaces, with video technology and for theatre

TTS commissions fresh work, creates professional and educational projects and explores new methods of developing contemporary dance production, performance and thinking.

Over ten years the work has become dialogue between action, feeling and the visual image. Primarily the company is concerned with moving bodies in space, however the work

Traits (2008)
searches for new modes of expression, in order to relate a dance idea to contemporary audiences. Projects to date have included the use of cinematic forms, music, design and voice.

Lisa Spackman describes the choreographic process as "a way of absorbing, re-expressing and intensifying everyday experience, until the moving 'rhythmic' body becomes a visceral projection of complex human sensation."

In 2014 Two Thirds Sky became dance company in residence at The Castle, Wellingborough. The residency provides a springboard to produce work on a national level, and act as a base to continue to develop dance in the East Midlands area; including the Castle Youth Dance project in partnership with Dance4.

"One is not just mesmerised by watching this work; it demands that you live the dance vicariously through the performers. I was rapt throughout and exhausted by the end!" - BedsFringe 2010
